EldersDBC desires to honor God, and is a church that is led spiritually by our elders. Throughout the New Testament, for example as seen in the book of Acts, 1 Timothy, and Titus, the church was given spiritual leadership through elders and not by deacons nor committees, nor "boards," nor CEO-pastor types. In addition, our elders understand that the Bible tells us that the elders of the New Testament churches focused upon prayer and the ministry of the Word. Out of that focus, the elders strive to be better able to lead according to God's will for DBC. Our Small Group shepherds fulfill the ministry of deacons, as they care for and minister to those within the groups. We visualize our church functions as three interlocking/overlapping circles...Worship, Ministry, and Missions...which cover the key purposes of the church: Worship, Prayer, Service, Discipleship, Fellowship, and Missions.

Our church is currently praying concerning those persons we sense would be Biblical candidates to serve as Deacons. Our church believes that deacons are not to serve as a board, but are instead to serve as ministering servants who give care and minister to the needs of our congregation and help extend that care even outside our church.
